Before her election as Governor, Binani was representing Adamawa Central senatorial district in the 9th Assembly and also formerly a member of the House of Representatives representing Yola North/Yola South/Girei federal constituency as a member of the People’s Democratic Party in the 7th Assembly (2011–2015).
In historic fashion, Binani will defeat the incumbent Governor of Adamawa state in a close election which has impressed locals and international observers.
Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed was born in the year 1971, eleven years after Nigeria gained independence.
Binani is currently the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
